The considerably updated Yamaha YZF-R125 was presented at the Intermot show in Cologne. The bike’s fairing has been restyled considerably to resemble the other bikes in the R series. The racing orientation is emphasized by a brake lever guard. The new chassis geometry and suspension are said to offer a great balance of lively and exiting handling and ride comfort.
The big news is that the engine now comes with variable valve timing, which provides a wider torque range and according to Yamaha, the engine produces a fair amount of power even at low revs. The four-valve cylinder head is new, and the engine breathes through a wider throttle body. Controllability in hard braking is improved by a slipper clutch.
